Texting and Driving? It’s not just your life you are responsible for when you are driving!
FACT: “Five seconds is the average time your eyes are off the road while texting. When traveling at 55mph, that’s enough time to cover the length of a football field blindfolded.”
More precisely 134 yards. I did the math (for those that rationalize text at only 30mph, that’s still 73 yards in 5 seconds).
As frightening as this is, it doesn’t take into account the “cognitive impairment” that is REQUIRED to process the text. Driving is not a time to be multitasking!
I hear a lot of people say “I do it but I know I shouldn’t”.
I’m not here to shame or judge anyone.
All I’m saying is we’re all on the road together. I have personal experience and understanding of what it is to make poor decisions behind the wheel. And a few of the consequences as well.
I’m extremely grateful that I didn’t injure or kill anyone when I made those decisions. I could very easily have been “that guy”.
Take some time to to research some apps that will help you stop texting and driving. It takes some effort but it is so worth it!
